Campers

Elizabeth Mulhollann

I'm the Digital Preservation Officer at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) Library - a role I blagged my way into just over a year ago, and one that I'm dangerously underqualified for... However, I have been working on some cool stuff.

For starters, there's the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Data Archive (ATSIDA) - a new thematic node within the Australian Social Science Data Archive at ANU. We started totally from scratch and have been working through some complex issues not only around the technical practicalities of archiving a diverse range of 'data' (bark paintings anyone?), but also around community/researcher consultation, and access and reuse protocols.

I also work on UTSePress - our open access journal offering, which runs off the PKP's Open Journal System - and our DSpace based institutional repository, UTSiResearch.

Outside of work, I'm also a student, currently in the final throes of my Masters in Information and Knowledge Management. My final research project, being completed over the coming months, is titled 'Is data in the eye of the beholder?', where I'm researching how different people define 'data' depending on their context. I'd LOVE to talk to some THATCampers about that :)
